Situated at the heart of Beskidy Mountains Żywiec Range, the second highest mountain range in Poland, after the Tatras, Zawoja is the biggest village in Poland. Its high tourists value and unique climate as well as great landscape made it a renowned holiday village long before the WWII. It stretches along Skawica stream which takes its course from the slopes of Babiej Góry.
Zawoja is the most frequently visited village in the region both in the summer and in the winter. It is rightly called ‘The Queen of the Beskids’. It lies in the transitional area of The Babia Góra National Park. Because of the exceptional purity of the air and waters the Park has acquired the status Biosphere Reserve and was included in the ‘Man and Biosphere’ programme.
